On Saturday morning, there was an attempted robbery at the Little Creek Casino Resort in Shelton, Washington.

According to the Mason County Sheriff's Office, on Saturday, August 9, at approximately 11:24 a.m. local time, an unidentified male entered the Squaxin Island Tribe's owned and run tribal casino.  The man demanded that the cashier turn over all of the money in the till as he walked up to the cage of the casino with a weapon.

The person was told by the casino staff that their register was empty.  Then the man hurried out of the casino.  The individual was thought to have escaped on foot, but responding police and K-9 teams were unable to find him.

"He was last seen running toward Highway 101, then onto the overpass and out of sight,” a post on the Mason County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page read.

There are 28 table games, 750 slot machines, and an IGT PlaySports Sportsbook at Little Creek.  A 200-room hotel, an RV park, six dining options, an event center, the Seven Inlets Spa, and the Salish Cliffs Golf Club are all elements of the tribe resort.  The location is close to Olympic National Park, northwest of Olympia. 

Police Requesting Help

The alleged suspect in the botched Saturday holdup, according to the Mason County Sheriff's Office, is about 5'7" and has a "small frame."  He is probably between 20 and 30 years old and "possibly Hispanic."

“He was wearing a gray or dark flannel button-up shirt (buttoned to the neck), dark gray pants, dark ‘Romeo’ style boots, a light gray hat with a white Nike logo, and sunglasses. He had a clear plastic glove on his right hand and was armed with a pistol,” the law enforcement alert added.

Police suggest that you dial 911 if you know anything about the suspect. 

Robbery Spree at the Casino? 

A Facebook post by the Mason County Sheriff's Office received a remark asking if the individual seen in the Little Creek Casino security footage is the same person who broke into the Silver Reef Casino approximately a week prior.  About three hours' journey north of Little Creek Casino, Silver Reef is located just south of the Canadian border.

According to Whatcom County law enforcement, on Sunday morning, August 3, a man entered the Lummi Nation's owned and run tribal casino.  The man went to the cage in the casino and demanded money.

The Lummi Nation Police Department did not specify in a statement if the individual carried a gun or stole any money.  Although his arms are bare and appeared to have tattoos, the man in the surveillance images of the event appears to be of comparable stature.

"Looks similar to the guy at Silver Reef Casino a week ago, but with a shave,” read the Facebook comment.

According to others, the suspect at Little Creek Casino seems to be the same individual who recently took the Riverside Fire Authority in Centralia's "jaws of life."  Emergency first responders utilize hydraulic rescue tools called "Jaws of Life" to free people trapped in cars or in other circumstances where access is restricted by wrecks or debris.
