The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) reported today that it has paid 29 Ontario towns that have land-based gaming facilities CAD $43,634,211 in installment payments for gaming revenue for the first quarter (April 1–June 30, 2025).
“OLG is a strong partner providing substantial benefits to communities across Ontario,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “In addition to creating jobs in host gaming communities, OLG’s sharing of local casino revenues with municipalities helps fund important local public services that improve quality of life for residents.”
Compared to the CAD $27,301,476 disbursed in Q4 (January 1–March 31, 2025), that represents an increase.
All land-based casino locations in the province receive payments to host municipalities using a mechanism found in the Municipality Contribution Agreement. For those websites that provide those services, there is a gradated scale of slot machine revenue as well as a portion of table game and sportsbook money.
5.25 percent of the first $65 million in slot machine revenue, 3.0 percent of the next $135 million, 2.5 percent of the next $300 million, 0.5 percent of slot revenue over $500 million, 4.0 percent of table game revenue (if applicable), and 4.0 percent of sportsbook revenue (if applicable) are all given to municipalities under the agreement.
Payments Depending on the Set Since 1994, non-tax gaming revenue has brought nearly CAD $2.3 billion to Formula Host towns.
Casino Woodbine in Toronto generated the largest municipality payment in Q1 (CAD $9,147,483), followed by the two casinos in Niagara Falls (CAD $6,083,249), Casino Pickering (CAD $5,412,098), Caesars Windsor (CAD $2,983,227), and Gateway Casinos Innisfil (CAD $2,315,818), according to the breakdown provided by OLG.
Over their combined history, the two casinos in Niagara Falls—Fallsview Casino and Casino Niagara—have earned CAD $239,017,727 in total (Fallsview debuted in 2007, while Casino Niagara started in 1996).
